The coastal experience takes place at Kuyu Kuyu (Cooya Beach) with a Kubirriwarra First Nations guide. You'll explore the beach and coastal environment while learning about traditional bush foods, medicines and the cultural significance of the area. You may also have the opportunity to try throwing a traditional fishing spear.

The Kuku Yalanji are the Traditional Owners of the region around Mossman, the Daintree and surrounding coastal areas. You'll explore Manjal Dimbi (Mossman Gorge) on a guided rainforest walk, travelling along rainforest trails and elevated boardwalks through the World Heritage-listed Wet Tropics. Your guide will share information about the rainforest and its cultural significance.

Yes. Lunch is included at Mayi Café at the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre. The menu features food infused with local bush flavours and is served overlooking the rainforest.

At Janbal Gallery, you'll meet renowned Aboriginal artist Brian ‘Binna’ Swindley and learn how Dreamtime stories, animals, the environment and language are represented through Aboriginal art. You'll also create your own small canvas to take home.

Yes. As part of the Janbal Gallery experience, you'll create your own small canvas during the art class and take it home as a unique souvenir of your Daintree Dreaming experience.

The Mossman Gorge walk is considered an easy-grade walk of less than one kilometre return. The Aboriginal Coastal Adventure requires a higher level of mobility, as guests walk across Cooya Beach and the coastal environment.

Children aged 4–14 years can participate. The tour is not suitable for children under four years old. Families should also consider that the coastal experience involves walking on sand and the tour includes several activities throughout the day.

It can be suitable for older travellers who are comfortable walking on sand and participating in a full day of touring. The Mossman Gorge walk is easy grade, but the coastal experience requires a medium level of fitness. If you have mobility concerns, it's recommended that you contact the operator before booking.

Comfortable clothing, walking shoes, insect repellent, a water bottle, hat and sunscreen are recommended. An umbrella or raincoat is also useful during wet weather. Long pants are not recommended for the tour.

Yes. The tour may operate in reverse depending on the tides at the Aboriginal Coastal Adventure. This means the order of the coastal experience, Mossman Gorge and Janbal Gallery may vary on the day.

This experience is part of Tourism Australia's Discover Aboriginal Experiences collective. All activities take place on Kuku Yalanji land with the guidance of knowledgeable local hosts. The itinerary includes coastal, rainforest, and cultural art activities in and around Cooya Beach, Mossman Gorge, and Janbal Gallery. Some walking and outdoor activity is involved; suitable attire and footwear are recommended.
