Escape the tropical heat of Cairns and travel into the cooler mountain country of the Atherton Tablelands, where lush rainforest, volcanic lakes, waterfalls and fertile farmland create some of Tropical North Queensland's most spectacular scenery. Travelling in a small group with an experienced local guide, you'll discover some of the region's most popular natural and cultural attractions while learning about the area's history, wildlife and unique environment.
One of the first highlights is beautiful Lake Barrine, a volcanic crater lake surrounded by ancient rainforest. Explore the tranquil rainforest setting and see the enormous twin kauri trees, estimated to be around 1,000 years old. The tour then continues through the picturesque Tablelands, including stops around Yungaburra and Malanda, before visiting the remarkable Curtain Fig Tree, one of North Queensland's most impressive rainforest trees.
No Atherton Tablelands tour would be complete without a visit to Millaa Millaa Falls. Surrounded by lush tropical rainforest, this iconic waterfall is one of the most photographed in the region and provides a wonderful opportunity for a refreshing swim when conditions allow.
